Business Context

Every day, millions of visually impaired individuals navigate a world filled with obstacles. Our client approached us with a need for an application that would seamlessly integrate with NaviWay Stickers, audio-visual markers and geo zones, allowing users to receive real-time guidance and information about their surroundings.

Requirements

This project focused on developing the second, enhanced version of the application that we had previously created for the client - GMark. The new app was designed to introduce improved functionalities to better serve blind and visually impaired users.

Key features

  • audio-visual markers detection and activation, even when the app is running in the background
  • detection of NaviWay Stickers (graphic codes in the form of stickers)

  • detection of zone entry - app alerts users when entering a zone with audio-visual markers and NaviWay Sticker, enhancing navigation
  • displaying information about zones, NaviWay Stickers and audio-visual markers
  • history of detected NaviWay Stickers and audio-visual markers
  • list of audio-visual markers in the current zone
  • settings for text-to-speech functionality, language preferences, and automatic bluetooth activation
  • app maintains functionality without internet access by storing essential information locally

Challenges

We faced significant technical hurdles, particularly with NaviWay Stickers detection and ensuring compatibility with accessibility features like VoiceOver and TalkBack. Despite the difficulties we faced, our commitment to delivering high-quality, accessible solutions drove us to overcome every obstacle with determination and creativity.

Results

We have successfully developed a fully functional application that allows users to navigate their environment with confidence.

We are proud to have participated in the development of such an important project.
